Here’s a classic quote from my friend Russ Bredholt Jr. on his Strategist Blog, where he talks about predicting the future … “a lucrative profession even though the track record for peering beyond tomorrow is inconsistent at best.”
And he has some great advice for organizations at the start of a new year as many follow the advice of Apple Scientist Alan Kay who went on to found Viewpoints Research Institute. Kay said, “The best way to predict the future is to invent it.”
There’s been some confusing commentary lately by folks who say the term “innovation” is overused.
Rubbish!
If anything, innovation is and should be the driving force behind everything we do … making more with what we have to create new things we’ve never thought of. There’s an interesting movement afoot in Florida (one we’re proud to be helping) that is designed not only to raise awareness of the importance of innovation, but to build a consensus for a commitment to an innovation-driven economy here.
Check out FloridaIS.org … the Innovation Solution.
